Paisley Artists are a group of individuals with a shared interest - the creation and appreciation of art. The club maintains a membership of 75 persons and meets fortnightly between October and March each year for demonstrations, critic nights, work nights and slide presentations. Annual exhibitions have been held at the Paisley Museum and Art Galleries, normally between mid-November and mid-December, for as long as anyone in the club can remember. However, the Museum is currently being refurbished so we have been seeking alternative venues. In 2019 we held a successful exhibition in POP, the old post office in Paisley Piazza between 10th and 24th August. We had planned to have further exhibitions at the same venue but unfortunately this is currently on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. Subsequently we have held online exhibitions in 2020 and 2021 but hope to return to proper exhibitions sometime soon.
The club was established in 1907 and the members have been meeting regularly, exhibiting and selling their work ever since. The continued success of the club is a testiment to the skills and talents of the membership who consistently produce a high standard of work - a large proportion of the club funds are taken as commission on the sale of paintings at the annual exhibitions.
We hope that you will visit our annual exhibition and will perhaps recognise the work of some of our members at other exhibitions also.
Annual Exhibition - Private Viewing
Normally we have a private viewing at the opening of our exhibition allowing the ‘first pick’ of the original works. Invitations are sent to people who have supported the club in the past and invited guests. Please let us know if you would like to receive an invitation to our private viewing and we will do our best to fit you in, although numbers may be limited.
Would you like to become a member? We keep the membership at a maximum of 75 to suit the size of our meeting place and to help maintain a more intimate atmosphere during the demonstrations. Unfortunately this means that we usually have a waiting list - normally about 4 or 5 new members join the club each year as others move on. Prospective members are asked to bring along at least three recent works (framed or unframed) to demonstrate their artistic interest / talent. If you would like your name to be added to the waiting list please contact us by email at the address below.
Some of our members will undertake commissions, for example portraits, pets, historical buildings. If you have a particular requirement please email us at the address below.
